![]() ![]() Okay, so the truth is, anyone with a few simple tools can build these waterers and in any variation you need to fit your flock size. Just look how happy these nuggets are with their fresh water. I’m livin’ my best life in those moments guys… And as I always say, “work smarter not harder”…usually followed up with “go big or go home” and then I like to throw in a “negative Ghost rider, the pattern is full” just for fun really, and to marvel in the skill my wife and kids have to perfectly synchronize their eye rolls. In the past, I would just build multiple ones and place them at different heights, but that was more work upfront and more maintenance overall. WHAT ABOUT THE BABIES AND THE YOUNGIN’S? I sat down and began to think about how we can devise a system that not only works for the adult birds, but for the wee ones too (Erin calls them “tinies”). Over the years I have built many different waterers and I always come up short in one area. Plus, we all get real sick and tired of constantly cleaning and refilling the ground style watering devices. Most do the job they’re intended to do, but with different limitations. I have tried many different waterers since we have been in the chicken game…correction, I have literally tried them all. ![]() If you are like me and are always trying to find better ways to make your farm work more efficiently, then I hope this can be of use to you and your flock too. 1.20 20.I’m taking over the TLB blog today to talk about clean and efficient chicken water solutions.Wooden Feeder with Steel Mesh by Freddy Farm Makeshift Trash Can Chicken Feeder by Simplify Gardening Chicken Feeder/Drinker with a Crate Home by Creative Project ![]() Large Plywood Chicken Feeder by RedneckComputerGeek PVC Feeder with a Wooden Roof by Simple Creator Practical, Pro-Grade Chicken Feeder by İbrahim Yıldız Cheap, Easy-Access Chicken Feeder by Creative ideas Automatic, Rodent-Proof Feeder by Nature’s Always Right Low-Waste, Six-Feeder DIY Plan by The Provident Prepper DIY Plastic Bottle Feeder/Drinker by Likod Bahay Farm Automatic Feeder/Waterer From An Outdoor Life Self-Service DIY Chicken Feeder From Instructables Repurposed Bucket DIY Chicken Feeder From Open Coop Quick and Convenient DIY Chicken Feeder From Instructables PVC DIY Feeder and Waterer From Back Yard Chicken Lady A Wooden DIY Chicken Feeder From BackyardChickens Fully Automatic DIY Chicken Feeder from Lumnahacres As your coop expands, new solutions may be necessary, so feel free to come back often and try out new things! The feeders featured on this list are all affordable, and many can be assembled quickly with materials already on hand. To make it easier for the birds to get their food, put a couple of bricks right next to the drinker. To secure the drinker to a steel mesh fence, you’ll need some iron wire. In any case, order some fittings and caps and attach them to the pipes. Besides, this project can always be turned into a feeder. So far, we’ve been mostly covering feeders, but how about a low-effort PVC chicken drinker? We bet you have some leftover PVC pipes from a previous project. ![]()
